3. Project Information and Donation Amounts

3.1 Al Mustafa Canada provides humanitarian projects and appeals for donation purposes. Projects may be delivered directly by Al Mustafa Canada, through affiliated or partner organisations, or through third-party non-governmental organisations.

We carry out appropriate checks and due diligence on projects and partners to ensure that donations are managed responsibly and used for their intended purposes.

3.2 Al Mustafa Canada does not knowingly promote fraudulent or misleading appeals. We seek to provide appropriate information and evidence regarding the projects and appeals for which we collect donations.

3.3 The main characteristics and details of projects and appeals are displayed on the relevant pages of almustafacanada.org.

Images displayed on the website may be illustrative and may not necessarily represent the exact individuals, location or circumstances relating to a particular project. Project descriptions and donation amounts are provided as accurately as reasonably possible.

3.4 Suggested donation amounts and project costs may change from time to time. The amount displayed on the website at the time of donation will apply, except in the event of an obvious error.

Please check the final donation amount before submitting your donation.

4. Payments

4.1 Donations must be paid using one of the payment methods available on the donation form.

4.2 Where payment is made by credit or debit card, payment details may be securely transmitted to our third-party payment provider using encrypted protocols.

We do not store complete credit or debit card details on almustafacanada.org.

Where a refund is approved, it will normally be processed through the original payment method or payment provider.

5. Customer Care

5.1 For information, assistance or enquiries relating to donations, please contact Al Mustafa Canada®:

Telephone: 1 844 949 4726

Further information may also be available through the Contact Us section of our website.

6. Donation Cancellation and Cooling-Off Period

6.1 Donations made to Al Mustafa Canada are charitable contributions rather than purchases of goods or services. As such, donations are generally considered final and are not automatically subject to a cooling-off or cancellation period.

Where applicable law provides a cancellation right, this will apply to the extent required by law.

Any cancellation or refund request will be considered in accordance with the refund provisions set out in Section 7 of these terms.

7. Refund Procedures

7.1 Generally, a donation to Al Mustafa Canada is not refundable. A charitable contribution is a gift and, once made, is generally considered an irrevocable transfer of the donor's interest in the donated funds or property.

Al Mustafa Canada may, at its discretion, consider a refund where a donation was made accidentally or in another exceptional circumstance.

Any refund request should be submitted within 72 hours of the donation.

7.2 To request a refund, please contact us:

Telephone: 1 844 949 4726
Email: [email protected]

Approved refunds will normally be issued using the original method of payment.

7.3 Al Mustafa Canada cannot guarantee that a refund will be possible once donated funds have already been allocated or transferred to a project or project partner.

Where a donation is refunded, any associated tax receipt may become invalid and may need to be cancelled or returned.

7.4 Where the recipient identified in the donation form is different from the individual who made the payment, any approved refund will normally be made to the individual who originally made the payment.

7.5 Where possible, we will refund approved amounts using the same payment method originally used to make the donation.

7.6 Al Mustafa Canada will process approved refunds within a reasonable timeframe. We are not responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, including delays caused by payment providers, banks or card issuers.

For example:

  • Credit or debit card refunds may be subject to the processing times of the relevant card issuer.
  • PayPal refunds will be credited through PayPal, with the time taken for the funds to appear in the associated account depending on PayPal and the relevant financial institution.

9. Governing Law

9.1 These General Terms and Conditions of Sale shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which Al Mustafa Canada is registered and operates, subject to any mandatory legal rights and protections applicable to you.

10. Amendments and Updates

10.1 These General Terms and Conditions of Sale may be amended from time to time to reflect changes in legislation, regulations, our services, operational requirements or other relevant circumstances.

Any updated version will become effective from the date it is published on almustafacanada.org.

We recommend that you review these terms periodically to ensure that you are aware of any changes.

11. Partner Charity Policy

We carry out appropriate checks on all potential and current partners to reduce the risk of fund mismanagement, ensure that partners are capable of delivering the specific project or projects and provide assurance that funds are protected and used for their intended purposes.

Our checks may include some or all of the following:

  • Whether the organisation is genuine, reliable and competent to carry out the activity being funded.
  • Whether the organisation is culturally appropriate for Al Mustafa Canada to work with and fund.
  • Whether there is a strategic “mission fit” between the partner organisation's objectives and Al Mustafa Canada's charitable purposes and interests.
  • Processes to monitor, check and confirm that funds provided have been properly used in accordance with their intended purposes.
  • Assessments of exposure to risks including fraud, financial crime, extremism and terrorism.
  • Checks to ensure that directors, trustees, officers, employees and volunteers are not, and do not appear on, applicable sanctions or designated-person lists maintained by relevant authorities, including the United States Government Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the United Nations Security Council Sanctions Committee, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
  • Whether awarding a grant or supporting a project is in the best interests of the charity.
  • The organisation's governance and constitutional structure.
  • The full scope of the organisation's operations and any potential conflicts with Al Mustafa Canada's purposes, activities, funding or other interests.
  • The organisation's ability to demonstrate its delivery capacity and compliance with relevant sector standards, norms and best practices, or its commitment to working towards such standards.
  • Where appropriate, preference may be given to partnerships involving UK-registered charities where this provides additional assurance through established due diligence requirements.

We will undertake specific partner or project-related risk assessments where appropriate.

Once the relevant checks have been completed, we will review the available information and make an informed decision about whether to proceed with a partnership or specific project.

Our assessment will be based on the evidence available to us at the time. In some circumstances, additional documentation, assurances or due diligence checks may be requested before a final decision is made. This may include checks relating to downstream delivery partners where we believe such measures will reduce risk and provide additional assurance.

12. Safeguarding Children Policy

12.1 This policy applies to all staff, including senior managers and trustees, paid employees, volunteers, sessional workers, agency staff, students and anyone working on behalf of Al Mustafa Canada.

The purpose of this policy is:

  • To protect children and young people who receive services or support from the charity, including children of adults who use our services.
  • To provide staff and volunteers with overarching principles that guide our approach to safeguarding.

Al Mustafa Canada believes that no child or young person should experience abuse of any kind.

We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people and to take appropriate steps to keep them safe.

We are committed to working in a way that protects children and young people and supports their wellbeing and safety.
